Disarchive the downloaded files to
$LyX (usually /usr/share/lyx or /usr/local/share/lyx etc.) for
system installation, or $HOME/.lyx for personal one. Do
"Reconfigure" from LyX to make it recognised after installation. The layout files are GNU General Public License.
Of cource, related LaTeX files must be fetched from Springer and installed before doing this. Do not forget to run "mktexlsr" after installing LaTeX files.

A patch to use Mathematica 5.0 on FreeBSD
If Mathematica is installed in /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/5.0,
copy the above file in /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/5.0 and do as follows.
cd /usr/local/Wolfram/Mathematica/5.0
patch < mathematica.freebsd.diff
rm mathematica.freebsd.diff
